Solo Diving

The history of scuba diving is a history of diving as buddies, with the buddy system and buddy checks. In recent years this has been a subject of much debate, and technical divers started to see solo diving as a perfectly acceptable diving practice. The last development is that recreational diving agencies start offering recreational solo diving courses.

Divers who promote solo-diving as a good alternative to diving in buddy-teams have the safe diving statistics against them. We all have opinions, but statistics do not lie. And the statistics that analyze diving "accidents" clearly point out that more accidents happen when divers choose to enter the water alone then when they dive with a buddy.

In these articles I discuss the reasons people give for solo-diving, and give a summary with recommendations and links to the references I used for the articles.
